Julian Merschen

Julian leads Nerdy’s engineering and software development organization and is responsible for defining the technological vision using the latest in machine learning and advanced AI to deliver superior solutions for learners and experts. Prior to joining Nerdy in 2021, Julian worked at Bridgewater Associates where he led the product team responsible for the research platform that enables investors at Bridgewater to research, build and execute macro economic models. Prior to Bridgwater, Julian spent 8 years at Amazon where he led multiple initiatives and products at the intersection of tech, machine learning, and business including Amazon’s Choice, a world-wide recommendation system, and the end-to-end shopping journey on Alexa to order groceries. Julian holds a BSc in Mathematics and Economics, a MSc in Applicable Mathematics, and a PhD in Mathematics from the London School of Economics.
